Affiliate marketing is a web-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. Affiliate marketing is also the name of the industry where a number of different types of companies and individuals are performing this form of internet marketing, including affiliate networks, affiliate management companies and in-house affiliate managers, specialized 3rd party vendors, and various types of affiliates/ publishers who promote the products and services of their partners. Affiliate marketing overlaps with other internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, email marketing and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques like publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner. Affiliate marketing — using one site to drive traffic to another — is a form of online marketing, which is frequently overlooked by advertisers. While search engines, e-mail and RSS capture much of the attention of online retailers, affiliate marketing carries a much lower profile. Still, affiliates continue to play a significant role in e-retailers' marketing strategies. From wikipedia. So if want to make money from affiliate programs, you can try these top 4 affiliate programs, here is a review of them, you can just take a look. review-pedia.com/ index.php/ affiliate-network/ top-4-affiliate-network-review.html

I can tell you what I know. The key to an affiliate program is to have a website of a blog. The reason for this is because you can sign up with a company such as Amazon.com or Commission Junction and once you become an affiliate, you can place their ads all over you site and when someone clicks on the ad and makes a purchase, you make a commission off the sale. The commission rates can vary from 2% to 10% and sometimes there may be a fixed commission if the item that is being sold has a fixed price. Commission Junction allows you to become affiliated with numerous companies because they are sort of a clearing house for affiliate advertising. They have major companies like Best Buy and Home Depot plus Buy.com and Shop.com as well as every other type of company out there. If you don't have a website then there are some places the offer affiliate programs where they provide you with a website and then every sale that originates with from your website, pays you a commission as well. You see this a lot with the As Seen On TV websites. asseenontvnetwork.com/ cpawarehouse/ index.html The key to all of this is to get traffic to your site so that you have more opportunities to make sales from your site. The beauty of an affiliate program is that you don't have to do any of the selling yourself. Everything is done through the affiliate companies and they pay you for all the converted sales. To find out more about how to get traffic to your site there is a great book called, Search Engine Optimization for Dummies written by Peter Kent, that I am sure you will find helpful. To take a look at some of these affiliate ads, click on the following link and then click through the various pages of this site and notice the different ads. They are all affiliate ads. The truth of the matter is that if someone has enough technically experience and is aware of the system of affiliate marketing, it is difficult to prevent commission theft. However, in regard to non-affiliate marketers simply not liking to click on those "affiliate type " links, there are a number of things that you can do to cloak your links. Go over to affiliatemarketinglessons.com and sign up for the free affiliate marketing videos. Part 2 of these videos discusses some of these methods. Hope this helps...
